Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from Bergen's city center, head towards the harbor area by walking down the street known as Strandkaien. As you walk along the waterfront, you should see the famous Bryggen Wharf on your left. Continue walking in the direction of the fish market (Fisketorget), which is about a 5-10 minute walk from Bryggen. Once you reach the fish market, take a right and walk along the harbor front until you see the entrance to Bergenhus Fortress at the end of the road. The fortress is located at 5003 Bergen and is easily recognizable by its stone walls and historic architecture.

  • Public Transport

    From Bergen's main bus station (Bergen Busstasjon), you can take bus number 3 or 4 towards 'Danmarksplass'. Board the bus and stay on for about 10-15 minutes. Disembark at the stop named 'Festningskaien'. From this stop, walk towards the waterfront, and you will see the entrance to Bergenhus Fortress just a few minutes away.
