Getting There

  • Walking

    From Bryggen, head towards the waterfront and walk along the harbor promenade. Continue walking until you reach the end of Bryggen, where you will see a large open space. At this point, you should see Bergenhus Fortress directly ahead. It is approximately a 10-minute walk from most locations within Bryggen. As you approach, you will notice the fortress walls and the iconic Håkon's Hall.

    If you prefer not to walk, you can take a bus to a nearby stop. From Bryggen, walk to the nearest bus stop at 'Bryggen' (located on the main road). Board bus number 3 or 4 in the direction of 'Nygard' and get off at the 'Festningskaien' stop. The bus ride takes about 5 minutes, and the fortress is just a short 5-minute walk from the bus stop.
