Getting There

    If you are traveling by car, start from the entrance of Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Head east on OH-8 N and take exit 18 toward Akron-Peninsula. Merge onto Akron-Peninsula Rd and follow it for approximately 2 miles. Turn left onto Truxell Rd, and after about a mile, turn right onto OH-303 E. Continue for about 3 miles until you reach the Virginia Kendall Area on your right. There is no entrance fee for the park, but check for any parking fees at specific lots.

  • Public Transportation

    Public transportation options are limited in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The nearest public transit stop is at the Peninsula station on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad. Take the train from Akron or Cleveland towards Peninsula. Once you arrive at the Peninsula station, you can either walk or use a rideshare service to get to Virginia Kendall Area, which is about 2 miles away. Walking may take approximately 40 minutes, so consider the weather and your comfort level.

  • Bicycle

    If you enjoy biking, you can ride to Virginia Kendall Area using the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail. Start at any point along the Towpath and head south toward Peninsula. Once you reach Peninsula, follow the directions for cars by taking Akron-Peninsula Rd to Truxell Rd. Remember to wear a helmet and follow local cycling regulations. There are no additional costs for using the Towpath, but be aware of your bike's condition for a safe ride.
