Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car within Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, start by navigating to the Refuge Headquarters at 32°25'45.39"N, 98°42'14.52"W. From the headquarters, head southwest on OK-49 for approximately 4 miles. Look for signs indicating the direction of Crab Eyes. You will need to turn onto a gravel road that leads to the Crab Eyes trailhead. The area is well-marked. Once you arrive at the parking area near the trailhead, you can begin your hike to Crab Eyes.

• Public Transportation + Hiking

  Public transportation options are limited in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. If you are using public transportation, your best option is to take a bus to Lawton, OK. From there, you will need to use a rideshare service or taxi to reach the Refuge Headquarters. Once at the headquarters, follow the same directions as by car: head southwest on OK-49 for about 4 miles, then take the gravel road to the Crab Eyes trailhead. After parking, prepare for a hike to reach Crab Eyes.

• Hiking

  If you're already in the vicinity of the Crab Eyes trailhead and prefer to hike, ensure you have a good map or use a GPS-enabled device. Starting from the nearest accessible point, follow the marked hiking trails leading toward Crab Eyes. The area features several trails, and while navigating, look for trail markers indicating Crab Eyes. The hike is moderately challenging, so wear appropriate hiking shoes and bring water.
