Getting There

Car
If you are driving from the main town of Nizwa, head north on Route 21, also known as the Nizwa to Al Hamra road. Continue for about 40 kilometers until you reach the junction for Jebel Shams. Turn left onto Route 15 and follow the signs for Jebel Shams. After approximately 30 kilometers, you will arrive at a parking area near the Jebel Shams viewpoint. From here, you will need to navigate the final stretch to the Jebel Shams Campsite. The campsite is located at coordinates (23.2043675, 57.2017943), which is about a 15-minute drive from the viewpoint. Follow the dirt road leading away from the viewpoint; keep an eye out for signs indicating the campsite.

Public Transportation
To reach Jebel Shams via public transportation, take a bus from Muscat to Nizwa at the main bus terminal. The journey will take approximately 2 hours and costs around 5 OMR. Once in Nizwa, you can hire a local taxi to take you to Jebel Shams. The taxi ride will cost about 20 OMR and will take around 40 minutes. Inform the driver to drop you off at the Jebel Shams viewpoint, from where you can hike or use a local guide service to reach the Jebel Shams Campsite, which is approximately 15 minutes away by foot.
