Car
If you are driving, start on Highway 20. From Sisters, Oregon, head east on Highway 20 for about 20 miles until you reach the junction with Santiam Highway (Highway 22). Turn left onto Santiam Highway and continue for approximately 10 miles. Keep an eye out for signs for Mt. Washington, as you will need to turn onto Forest Road 2010, which leads to Mount Washington Trailhead. Note that this road may not be fully paved, so ensure your vehicle is capable of handling unpaved roads. There is no fee for parking at the trailhead.

Public Transportation + Hiking
If you're using public transportation, take a bus to the nearest town, such as Sisters or Sweet Home. From there, you may need to use a rideshare service or arrange for a taxi to reach the Santiam Highway. Once you arrive at the Santiam Highway, follow the instructions for driving to the Mount Washington Trailhead as mentioned above. Be sure to check the local bus schedules ahead of time as they may not be frequent. Also, take into consideration that the trailhead is about a mile from the nearest road access, so be prepared for a short hike to reach the base of Mt. Washington.

Bicycle
For the adventurous traveler, consider biking to Mt. Washington. Starting in Sisters, you can take Highway 20 east to Santiam Highway (Highway 22). The ride is approximately 20 miles and offers stunning views of the Cascade Range. Ensure your bike is equipped for mountain terrain, as you will encounter some steep inclines and unpaved roads. Additionally, bring plenty of water and snacks, as there are limited facilities along the way. Once you reach the junction, follow the same path to Forest Road 2010 leading to the trailhead.
