Car
If you're starting from the city of Burns, take U.S. Route 20 east for approximately 45 miles. After passing through Hines, look for the junction with OR-395. Turn north onto OR-395 and continue for about 35 miles. You'll reach the town of John Day. From John Day, take U.S. Route 26 west for about 30 miles until you hit the junction with OR-7. Turn south on OR-7 and follow it for about 18 miles until you reach the town of Canyon City. The Strawberry Mountain Wilderness is located just a few miles southeast of Canyon City. Follow the local signs to access the wilderness area.

Take a Greyhound bus or a local shuttle service to John Day from major cities in Eastern Oregon. Once in John Day, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to get to Canyon City.
