Car
From the city of Albany, take I-5 south and exit onto OR-34 E towards Corvallis. Continue on OR-34 E for approximately 24 miles until you reach the junction for US-20 E. Take US-20 E for about 30 miles until you reach the town of Sweet Home. From Sweet Home, follow the signs to OR-126 E, which will lead you towards the McKenzie River area. Continue on OR-126 E for approximately 30 miles, passing through the town of Blue River. Look for signs indicating Dee Wright Observatory on McKenzie Highway (OR-242). Turn onto OR-242 and follow the road until you reach the observatory parking area. Note that OR-242 is often seasonal and may be closed in winter months.
Public Transportation
While public transportation options to Dee Wright Observatory are limited, you can take a Greyhound or local bus to the nearest larger city, Eugene, OR. Once in Eugene, you can rent a car or use a rideshare service to reach the observatory. From Eugene, follow the same driving directions provided above, taking OR-126 E towards Blue River and then OR-242 to the observatory.
