Getting There

Public Bus
From Gilgit, head to the main bus terminal located near the Gilgit River. Look for buses heading towards Karimabad, as they frequently stop at Altit. The journey takes about 2-3 hours, and buses usually leave every 30 minutes during the day. Make sure to inform the conductor that you want to get off at Altit Fort.

Shared Taxi
At the Gilgit bus terminal, you can also find shared taxis. These are faster than buses and take approximately 1.5-2 hours to reach Altit. Negotiate the fare before getting in. Request the driver to drop you off at Altit Fort, which is a well-known landmark.

Walking
If you prefer to walk from Karimabad (the nearest town to Altit), it is a 30-40 minute trek. From Karimabad, head towards Altit Fort. Follow the signs towards the fort, and you will see Jataq Altit Hunza located on 'Street 1' directly in front of the Hunza's biggest swimming pool.
