Getting There

Car
From Leh, take the NH 1D towards Kargil. Drive approximately 230 km until you reach the town of Skardu. This journey will take about 8-9 hours, so consider stopping at scenic spots along the way. Once in Skardu, continue towards the Askole village, which is the last road-accessible point before trekking begins. The drive to Askole takes about 4-5 hours from Skardu. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for rough terrain, as the road can be challenging.

From Leh, take a local bus to Kargil. Upon arrival in Kargil, transfer to a bus heading to Skardu. Buses run daily, but it's recommended to check the schedule in advance as it can vary. The total travel time will be around 12-14 hours. Once in Skardu, you can hire a jeep to take you to Askole, which will take about 4-5 hours. Be sure to confirm the jeep's availability beforehand.
