From Leh, take the Leh-Srinagar Highway (NH1) towards Kargil. After approximately 25 km, turn left onto the road leading to Drass. Continue on this road for about 80 km until you reach Drass, which is the second coldest inhabited place on earth. From Drass, head towards the Kargil-Zanskar Road (NH301) and continue for about 60 km until you reach the town of Kargil. From Kargil, take the road towards the Astore Valley, which leads you to the base of the approach to Bilafond La. Note that this route may require a special permit, so ensure you have the necessary documentation. The distance from Leh to Bilafond La is approximately 230 km, and the journey might take around 8-10 hours due to road conditions.
