If you are driving from Leh, the capital of Ladakh, head north on NH 1 towards Nubra Valley. The drive is approximately 120 km and takes around 4 to 5 hours. You will pass through the Khardung La Pass, one of the highest motorable roads in the world. Make sure to check the weather conditions before heading out, as the pass can be closed during heavy snowfall. After crossing the pass, continue straight until you reach Diskit. Look for signposts indicating 'Diskit' as you approach the town.
Public Transportation (Shared Taxi)
To reach Diskit via public transportation, you can catch a shared taxi from Leh. Head to the Leh taxi stand located near the main market. Shared taxis depart when they are full and the journey will take about 4 to 5 hours. The fare is approximately ₹600-₹800 per person. Ensure you ask the driver to drop you at Diskit Gompa directly, as some taxis may drop passengers at the Diskit town center.
