If you're starting from the town of Chachapoyas, rent a car and head southeast on the PE-3N road. Follow the signs toward Pedro Ruiz Gallo. After approximately 40 km, keep left to stay on PE-3N. You will pass through scenic landscapes and small villages. Continue for about 150 km until you reach the junction near the town of Bagua Grande. From there, take the PE-5N road towards the town of Utcubamba and follow the signs toward the Amazon River source. The total drive should take around 4-5 hours depending on road conditions.

From Chachapoyas, you can take a bus from the main terminal to Bagua Grande. Buses run frequently, and the trip takes about 2-3 hours. Once in Bagua Grande, look for a local bus or shared taxi heading towards Utcubamba. Ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest point to the source of the Amazon River. The journey from Bagua Grande to the river source takes about 1-2 hours. Be prepared for a bit of walking from the drop-off point to the exact location.
