The road is unpaved and may require a 4x4 vehicle due to its rugged terrain. Be prepared for a drive that takes around 1.5 to 2 hours from Cachora to the trailhead.

To reach Choquequirao by public transportation, take a bus from Chachapoyas to Abancay. The bus ride typically lasts around 5 hours. Upon arriving in Abancay, transfer to another bus heading to Cachora. This leg of the trip takes about 1 hour. In Cachora, you will need to hire a local guide or take a taxi to the Choquequirao trailhead, which is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours away. Be sure to confirm bus schedules in advance as they can vary.
Hiking
The final leg to Choquequirao involves a hike from the trailhead in Cachora. This trek is approximately 32 kilometers (20 miles) and typically takes 2 to 3 days to complete.
