Getting There

Car
If you are traveling by car, head towards the town of Tingo Maria or Chachapoyas, which are major access points to Kuelap. From Chachapoyas, take the PE-8S highway towards the direction of the village of Nuevo Tingo. Continue on this road for about 30 minutes until you reach the turn-off for the Carr. a Kuelap (Kuelap road). Follow the signs to Kuelap, and after approximately 40 minutes, you will arrive at the parking area near the entrance. Note that the road can be steep and winding, so drive cautiously.

Public Transportation (Bus)
For those using public transportation, take a bus from Chachapoyas to the village of Tingo. Buses regularly depart from the main bus terminal in Chachapoyas and the fare is approximately 10-15 soles (around $3-4). Once you reach Tingo, you can hire a local taxi or a mototaxi to take you to Kuelap. The taxi fare from Tingo to Kuelap is around 30-40 soles (about $8-11). Make sure to negotiate the fare in advance.

Cable Car
After reaching the parking area near Kuelap, you will need to take the cable car to the fortress. The cable car station is located a short walk from the parking lot. The round-trip cable car ticket costs approximately 20 soles (around $5) and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape as you ascend to the fortress. The cable car ride takes about 20 minutes.
