Getting There

Car
If you are traveling by car from Cusco, head southwest on Av. El Sol towards Av. de la Cultura. Continue for about 1.5 km and merge onto the road to Abancay. After approximately 90 km, you will reach the town of Cachora. From Cachora, follow the signs to the Choquequirao trailhead, which is about 30 minutes away. Be prepared for a rough road and possibly needing a 4x4 vehicle.

For those using public transportation, take a bus from Cusco to Abancay. The journey takes around 4-5 hours. Once in Abancay, transfer to a smaller van or taxi that goes to Cachora. The ride from Abancay to Cachora takes about 1.5 hours. After arriving in Cachora, you can either hire a local guide or pay for a mule to carry your gear as you trek to Choquequirao.
