If you are traveling by car from Cusco, head southwest on Av. El Sol towards Av. de la Cultura. Continue for about 1.5 km and merge onto the road to Abancay. After approximately 90 km, you will reach the town of Cachora. From Cachora, follow the signs to the Choquequirao trailhead, which is about 30 minutes away. Be prepared for a rough road and possibly needing a 4x4 vehicle.

For those using public transportation, take a bus from Cusco to Abancay. The journey takes around 4-5 hours. Once in Abancay, transfer to a smaller van or taxi that goes to Cachora. The ride from Abancay to Cachora takes about 1.5 hours. After arriving in Cachora, you can either hire a local guide or pay for a mule to carry your gear as you trek to Choquequirao.

  • Hiking

From the trailhead in Cachora, begin the hike to Choquequirao. The trek is strenuous and can take 2-3 days, depending on your pace and the number of stops you make. Make sure to follow the marked paths and consider hiring a local guide for safety and navigation. Bring plenty of water, snacks, and camping gear if you plan to stay overnight.
