Getting There

• Car

  From the central area of Apurímac, head towards the town of Aguas Calientes. Use the main road that connects to the route leading to Machu Picchu. Once you reach Aguas Calientes, you'll need to park your car in one of the designated parking areas (note that parking fees may apply). After parking, walk towards the train station to board a train that will take you to the base of Intipata.

• Public Transportation

  Start your journey from Apurímac by taking a bus or colectivo (shared taxi) heading to Aguas Calientes. Buses usually depart from the main bus terminal. The ride may take several hours, depending on traffic. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, make your way to the train station. From there, you can take a train to the station closest to Intipata. After disembarking, follow the signs or ask locals for directions to reach the archeological site.

• Train

  Once you are in Aguas Calientes, purchase a train ticket to the closest station near Intipata. The train service is frequent, but it is advisable to book in advance during the high season. After arriving at the station, you may need to hire a local guide or use a taxi to reach the archaeological site, as it may require a bit of hiking or navigating through local paths.

• Walking

  If you are up for an adventure, from Aguas Calientes, you can opt to hike to Intipata. The trek offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Ensure you have good walking shoes and take plenty of water. The hike can take a couple of hours, so plan accordingly.
