Travel Guide to Plaza de Uchumayo

Getting There

• Public Bus

  From the city center of Arequipa, head to the main bus station, Terminal Terrestre. Look for buses heading towards Uchumayo. Buses are frequent and cost around 1-2 soles. Once you get on the bus, inform the driver or conductor that you want to get off at Plaza de Uchumayo. The ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes. When you arrive, the plaza will be within walking distance; just follow the signs or ask locals for directions.

• Shared Taxi (Colectivo)

  From the main square (Plaza de Armas) in Arequipa, walk to the nearest street with shared taxis, usually found near the square. Look for a 'colectivo' taxi heading towards Uchumayo. These taxis operate on fixed routes and usually fill up with passengers before departing. The cost is around 3-5 soles. Tell the driver you want to go to Plaza de Uchumayo. The journey will take about 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic. Once you arrive, the plaza is a short walk from where the taxi drops you off.

• Walking

  If you are staying relatively close to Uchumayo, you can choose to walk. Start at the Plaza de Armas and head north towards Av. Ejercito, then continue onto Av. 28 de Julio. Follow this road as it leads you towards Uchumayo. The walk is approximately 6 km and will take about 1.5 to 2 hours. You can enjoy the scenery along the way, but be sure to keep hydrated and wear comfortable shoes.
