To reach Ausangate by car, start from Cusco and drive southeast on the Route 3S. After about 3.5 hours (approximately 110 km), you will arrive at the town of Tinki. From Tinki, continue driving for about 30 minutes on a dirt road leading to the Ausangate trailhead, where you can park your vehicle. Ensure that your car is suitable for rough terrain. It is advisable to have a local map or GPS for navigation as the roads may not be well-marked.

From Cusco, take a bus from the Terminal Terrestre (bus terminal) to Tinki. Buses leave frequently and the journey takes around 3 to 4 hours.
