Car
If you are traveling by car, head to the nearest town, Tinki. From Tinki, follow the road leading to the Ausangate region. The drive from Tinki to the trailhead at Q'ampa can take about 1.5 to 2 hours. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for mountain roads. Park your car at the designated area near the trailhead, and prepare for a hike towards Nevado Ausangate.
Public Transportation
To reach Nevado Ausangate via public transport, take a minivan or bus from Cusco to Tinki. Buses leave regularly from the main bus terminal in Cusco. The journey takes approximately 3 to 4 hours and costs around 15-25 soles. Once in Tinki, you can either hire a local taxi or join a tour group going to the Ausangate trailhead at Q'ampa, which should take about 1.5 hours and may cost around 50-100 soles.
Hiking
From the Q'ampa trailhead, embark on a hike towards Nevado Ausangate. The hike to the glacier is demanding, taking approximately 3 to 5 hours depending on your pace and acclimatization. Follow the marked trails and be prepared for altitude changes; the elevation of Nevado Ausangate is over 6,300 meters.
