Car
If you are driving to Intipata, start your journey from Cusco. Take the road to Aguas Calientes, which is approximately a 5-hour drive. Once in Aguas Calientes, follow signs to the Machu Picchu Sanctuary. From there, drive to the Intipata archaeological site. Note that parking may be limited near the site, so prepare to walk a short distance.
Public Transportation
To reach Intipata via public transportation, take a bus from Cusco to Aguas Calientes. Buses leave regularly and the journey takes about 6-7 hours. Once you arrive in Aguas Calientes, you can either hike or take a taxi to the start of the trail leading to Intipata. The hike takes about 2-3 hours, and it’s advisable to wear sturdy hiking shoes.

If you are already on the Choquequirao Trek, make your way to Aguas Calientes. From Aguas Calientes, head to the trail that leads to Intipata, which is about a 2-3 hour hike uphill. The trail is well-marked, and you'll be rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Make sure to carry enough water and snacks for the trek.
