Car
Start your journey in Huaraz. Head south on Avenida Luzuriaga towards Avenida Mariscal Toribio de Luzuriaga. Continue straight onto the Carretera Huaraz-Pampa de Lluclla road (PE-3N). After approximately 18 km, look for signs leading to Laguna Churup. This route will take you through the scenic landscapes of the Huascarán National Park. Follow the signs for about 10 km, until you reach the trailhead for Laguna Chaquicocha. Make sure to park your car at the designated parking area before starting your hike.
Public Transportation
From the main plaza in Huaraz, take a minibus heading towards Pampa de Lluclla. These minibuses depart frequently and the fare is usually around 5-10 soles. Inform the driver that you want to go to Laguna Churup. The ride will take about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the drop-off point, follow the signs to the Laguna Chaquicocha trailhead and prepare for a hike. Ensure you have proper footwear and water for the trek.
Hiking
From the trailhead for Laguna Chaquicocha, you will begin your hike. The trail is well-marked and takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the lagoon. The path can be steep and rocky in parts, so be prepared for a moderate level of physical activity. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the unique flora and fauna. Remember to bring a camera to capture the stunning scenery!
