Public Transport (Minibus)
From the center of Huaraz, head to the main bus terminal known as 'Terminal Terrestre'. You can walk or take a short taxi ride. At the terminal, look for a minibus heading to 'Pitec' or 'Laguna Churup'. The fare is typically around 10-15 soles. The minibus will take you to the trailhead at Pitec, which is approximately a 30-minute ride.
Hiking
Once you arrive at Pitec, you will find a small entrance fee station where you may need to pay a nominal fee to access the trail. The hike to Laguna Churup takes about 3-4 hours depending on your pace and fitness level. The trail is well-marked and will lead you through beautiful landscapes, including streams and dense vegetation. Follow the trail signs and enjoy the scenic views as you ascend.
Return Journey
After enjoying your time at Laguna Churup, retrace your steps back to Pitec. Be sure to leave enough time for the descent, as it can take about 2-3 hours. Once you reach Pitec, you can catch a minibus back to Huaraz. Make sure to check the schedule for return trips, as minibuses may run less frequently in the late afternoon.
