Walking
From the central plaza in Huaraz (Plaza de Armas), head south on Avenida Luzuriaga. Walk for about 10 minutes until you reach the intersection with Avenida 28 de Julio. Turn left onto Avenida 28 de Julio. Continue walking straight for approximately 20 minutes until you reach the intersection with Avenida José de la Riva Agüero. At this point, you may start to see signs for Mirador de Rataquenua. Continue straight for another 15 minutes until you reach the base of the hill leading up to the Mirador. The path up the hill will be steep; follow the trail for about 30 minutes to reach the viewpoint.

From the Plaza de Armas, take a local minibus marked 'Rataquenua' which can be found near the main square. The fare is typically inexpensive. The bus will take you along Avenida Luzuriaga and drop you off at the base of the hill leading to Mirador de Rataquenua. Once you disembark, follow the trail that leads up the hill.
