Public Bus
From the main plaza in Huaraz, head to the nearby bus terminal, known as Terminal Terrestre. Look for buses heading to 'Querococha' or 'Laguna Querococha.' The journey usually takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Make sure to confirm the destination with the bus driver before boarding. Once you arrive at the Querococha stop, you will be very close to the lake.
Shared Taxi (Collectivo)
At the main plaza, you can find shared taxis (collectivos) that go to Querococha. Head to the area where you see other tourists and locals waiting for rides. Look for a taxi that has 'Querococha' written on it. This is a quicker option, taking around 1 hour. The taxi will drop you off close to the lake.
Hiking
If you're feeling adventurous and are in good shape, you can hike to Querococha lake. Start from Huaraz and head towards the 'Calle 28 de Julio' street. From there, follow the trail that leads towards the mountains. This hike is not well marked, but you can ask locals for directions to the lake. It will take you several hours to reach the lake, so bring plenty of water and snacks.
