From the main entry point of Huascarán National Park in Huaraz, take the PE-3N highway towards Carhuaz. After about 30 minutes, take the exit towards the town of Catay. Continue driving straight until you reach the coordinates Q9XW+3VP. The journey should take approximately 1.5 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Make sure to have enough fuel and supplies, as services may be limited in remote areas.
Public Transportation
Start your journey at the main bus terminal in Huaraz. Look for buses heading to Carhuaz, which depart frequently throughout the day. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Carhuaz, you will need to take a local taxi or a shared minivan towards Catay. Inform the driver to drop you off at the coordinates Q9XW+3VP. The total travel time from Huaraz to Matu via public transportation is around 2 hours and may cost approximately 10-20 soles for the bus and an additional 10 soles for the taxi.
