Getting There

  • Car Rental/Private Vehicle

    From Lares Trek, head south on the main road towards the town of Lares. Drive for about 30 minutes until you reach the town. From Lares, continue on the road towards Calca and then follow signs to Cusco. The drive takes approximately 2 hours. Once in Cusco, navigate to Av. El Sol 948, where you will find Lares Trek Machu Picchu tour operator. Make sure to check for parking availability if you are driving.

  • Public Transportation (Bus)

    From Lares Trek, walk to the main bus terminal in Lares. Take a local bus heading to Calca. This journey will take around 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Calca, transfer to a bus heading to Cusco, which should take about 1.5 to 2 hours. Upon arrival in Cusco, disembark at the main bus terminal and navigate to Av. El Sol 948. Be sure to have small change for bus fares, usually around 10-15 soles.

  • Shared Taxi (Colectivo)

    From Lares Trek, you can find shared taxis, also known as colectivos, at designated pickup points. These taxis will take you directly to Calca. The ride takes about 30 minutes. Once in Calca, switch to a colectivo or bus to Cusco. The entire journey to Cusco will take around 2.5 hours total. Expect to pay approximately 20-25 soles for the taxi from Lares to Calca and around 15 soles for the bus from Calca to Cusco.
