Metro
If you are near the central area of Lima, start at the 'Estación Central' Metro station. Take Line 1 (the yellow line) towards 'Los Destellos.' After 10 stops, get off at 'San Juan de Lurigancho' station. From there, transfer to a bus or taxi to Callao. Ask the driver to take you to 'Plaza Independencia.' The fortress is located at the plaza.
Bus
From the historic center of Lima, locate the 'Jirón de la Unión' street. Take the bus number 15 or 41, which heads towards Callao. Stay on the bus for about 30 minutes. Get off at 'Plaza Independencia.' The Fortaleza del Real Felipe is located directly at the plaza.
Taxi/ride-hailing service
If you prefer a more direct option, you can use a taxi or a ride-hailing app like Uber or Cabify. Simply request a ride to 'Plaza Independencia, Callao.' The drive will take approximately 30 minutes from central Lima, depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the plaza, the fortress will be visible.
Walking
If you are staying in Callao, you can walk to 'Plaza Independencia.' Locate the main streets near your accommodation and head towards 'Avenida Saenz Peña' or 'Avenida La Marina.' Follow the signs leading to the plaza, which is about a 15-20 minute walk. The fortress is located at the center of the plaza.
