Walking
If you are already in Aguas Calientes, the town closest to Machu Picchu, start by heading towards the main square (Plaza Manco Cápac). From the square, follow the signs leading to the bus station. The bus station is located about a 10-minute walk from the square. Once you arrive at the bus station, purchase a ticket for the bus to Machu Picchu. Buses run frequently, approximately every 10 minutes. The bus ride will take about 25 minutes, winding up the mountain. Upon arrival at the Machu Picchu entrance, present your ticket and proceed into the site.

Hiking
If you prefer to hike to Machu Picchu, you can take the Inca Trail or the alternative hiking route that starts from Aguas Calientes. Begin at the footbridge over the river in Aguas Calientes and follow the signs toward Machu Picchu. This route is steep and can take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to hike. Make sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring water. There are several viewpoints along the way where you can take breaks and enjoy the scenery. The trail will lead you directly to the entrance of Machu Picchu.
