Getting there

Car

From any location in the North Coast, take the Pan-American Highway (Carretera Panamericana) south towards Lima, and then continue southeast towards Cusco. Upon reaching Cusco, follow signs for 'Saqsaywaman' or 'Centro Histórico'. Once in the city, use a GPS or map application to navigate to the entrance of Saqsaywaman, located at latitude -13.509856 and longitude -71.9816878. There is a parking area available near the site. Please note that entrance fees apply, typically around 70 PEN per adult.

Public Transportation

Take a bus from your location in the North Coast to Cusco. Several companies operate this route, and the journey can take approximately 18-24 hours. Once you arrive at the Cusco bus terminal, you can take a local taxi or a colectivo (shared taxi) to reach Saqsaywaman. For a colectivo, head to the Plaza de Armas and look for shared taxis heading to Saqsaywaman. The fare is usually around 10 PEN per person. Be aware that entrance fees apply at Saqsaywaman, typically around 70 PEN.

Taxi

If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from downtown Cusco to Saqsaywaman. Taxis are widely available, and the fare should be around 15-25 PEN depending on your starting point. Ensure you negotiate the price before getting in. Upon arrival, remember that there are entrance fees to the archaeological site, which is generally around 70 PEN.

Walking

For those who are physically fit and want to enjoy the scenery, you can walk from the center of Cusco to Saqsaywaman. Start from the Plaza de Armas, head north towards the Av. de la Cultura, and follow the signs to Saqsaywaman. The hike is uphill and takes about 30-45 minutes. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water. The entrance fee applies as well.
