Car
If you are driving, start from the town of Mollepata. Take the road towards Soray, following signs for Laguna Salkantay. The drive will take approximately 1 hour. Once you reach Soray, park your car in the designated parking area. Make sure to check if there are any parking fees, usually around 10-20 soles.
Public Transportation
From Cusco, take a bus or minivan to Mollepata. The journey takes about 2-3 hours and costs approximately 15-25 soles. Once in Mollepata, you can find local transport, such as a shared taxi or minivan, that goes to Soray. The ride will take about 1 hour and cost around 10-15 soles. After arriving in Soray, you will need to hike for about 1.5 to 2 hours to reach Laguna Salkantay.
Hiking
From Soray, begin your hike towards Laguna Salkantay. The trail is well-marked and offers beautiful views along the way. Ensure you have enough water and snacks for the hike, as there are limited facilities along the route. The hike will cover approximately 5 kilometers (3 miles) and ascend to an altitude of around 4,200 meters (13,780 feet).
