If you are driving from Puerto Maldonado, head south on Avenida 26 de Diciembre towards the intersection with Avenida Jorge Chavez. Continue straight onto the carretera hacia el río Tambopata (road towards the Tambopata River). Follow this road for approximately 30 minutes, then look for signs directing you to the entrance of Reserva Nacional Tambopata. Be aware that the road can be bumpy, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended.

From the main bus terminal in Puerto Maldonado, look for a bus or minivan that goes towards the Tambopata area. Ensure to ask for the one that stops at the entrance of Reserva Nacional Tambopata. The cost for the bus is generally around 10-15 PEN. The journey will take about 45 minutes, and you should inform the driver of your destination when you board.
