Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Tagbilaran City, the capital of Bohol. Head northeast on Carlos P. Garcia Avenue (also known as the Tagbilaran City Circumferential Road) and follow the signs to the town of Carmen. Once in Carmen, look for signs directing you to the Chocolate Hills Natural Monument, which is located along Bacani Road. The total driving distance is approximately 50 kilometers and should take around an hour. Make sure to check your fuel level before leaving, as there are fewer gas stations in rural areas.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Chocolate Hills using public transportation, take a van or bus from the Dao Terminal in Tagbilaran City. Look for vans or buses heading to Carmen. The fare is approximately 50 PHP (Philippine Pesos), and the trip should take around 1.5 hours. Inform the driver you want to go to Chocolate Hills, and they will drop you off at the nearest point. From there, you may need to hire a motorcycle (habal-habal) or walk for about 15-20 minutes to reach the entrance of the Chocolate Hills Natural Monument.

• Motorcycle (Habal-Habal)

  If you find yourself in Carmen and need to cover the remaining distance to Chocolate Hills, you can hire a motorcycle (locally known as habal-habal). The cost typically ranges from 100 to 200 PHP, depending on your negotiation skills and how far you need to go. The motorcycle ride will take about 15 minutes from Carmen to the entrance of the Chocolate Hills Natural Monument.

• Walking

  For those who prefer a more adventurous approach, if you are dropped off near the Chocolate Hills, you can choose to walk the remaining distance. The area is picturesque, and walking allows you to enjoy the scenic views along the way. Just be prepared for a trek of about 15-20 minutes on a dirt road leading to the entrance.
