Getting There

• Car

  To reach the Old Cathedral of Saint Mary of Coimbra by car from Figueira da Foz, start by heading northeast on the A14 highway. Follow the A14 for approximately 30 km until you reach the exit for Coimbra (A1). Merge onto the A1 and continue for about 7 km. Take the exit toward Coimbra Centro and follow the signs to the city center. Once in Coimbra, look for signs directing you to the Largo da Sé Velha. Parking is available in nearby parking lots, but be aware that some may incur a fee.

• Public Transportation - Train

  From Figueira da Foz, take the train from Figueira da Foz Station to Coimbra-B Station. The journey takes approximately 30 to 40 minutes. Once you arrive at Coimbra-B Station, transfer to the local urban bus (Bus Line 34 or 35) that heads towards the city center, getting off at the stop 'Largo da Sé Velha'. Follow the signs to the Old Cathedral, which is a short walk from the bus stop.

• Public Transportation - Bus

  Alternatively, you can take a direct bus from Figueira da Foz to Coimbra. Check the schedules of Rodoviária do Tejo or Rede Expressos, which operate services between the two cities. The bus ride takes about 45 minutes. Upon arrival at Coimbra bus station, you can walk to the Old Cathedral, which is approximately a 15-minute walk. Just head towards the city center, and you will see signs directing you to 'Sé Velha' (Old Cathedral).
