Getting There

  • Walking

    Start at the central Praça da República in Lamego. Head northwest on Rua da República towards Rua Dr. Alfredo de Sousa. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Avenida 1 de Maio. Turn right onto Avenida 1 de Maio and walk for about 1 km. You will pass by the stunning Lamego Cathedral (Sé de Lamego) on your left, a great spot for a quick photo. Continue on Avenida 1 de Maio until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto N225 towards Arouca. Follow the N225 for approximately 10 km until you reach Arouca. The 516 Arouca Bridge is located just outside the town, at Areinho, 4540-257 Arouca. Look for signage directing you to the bridge as you approach.

    From the central Praça da República in Lamego, walk to the nearby bus station (Terminal Rodoviário de Lamego). Purchase a ticket for a bus heading to Arouca. Buses run several times a day, and the journey takes about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in Arouca, you can either take a taxi or walk towards Areinho. The bridge is approximately 3 km from the bus station. If you choose to walk, follow Rua 25 de Abril and then turn onto N224 towards the bridge. You will see the signs for the 516 Arouca Bridge along the way.
