If you are starting from the Sintra train station, exit the station and head towards the main road, Avenida Dr. Alfredo da Costa. Turn left and continue straight until you reach the intersection with Rua das Padarias. Here, turn right onto Rua das Padarias. Follow this road as it winds through the town, passing shops and cafes. Continue until you reach the main square, Praça da República. From the square, walk towards the Igreja de São Martinho, and then take the path that leads up to the Church of Santa Maria, which is located at the address 2710-541 Sintra.

From the Sintra train station, look for the bus stop located outside the station. Take bus number 434, which is a circular route that goes around Sintra. Stay on the bus until you reach the stop called 'Centro Histórico.' Once you disembark, walk towards the main square, Praça da República.
