Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving from Narragansett Beach, start by heading north on Ocean Road. Follow Ocean Road until you reach the intersection with Route 1. Turn left onto Route 1 and continue for about 7 miles. Take exit 2 for Route 138 towards Newport. Merge onto Route 138 and continue for approximately 5 miles. Take the exit for Newport and follow the signs to Fort Adams State Park. As you approach the park, turn onto Fort Adams Drive, and you will find the entrance to Fort Adams State Park on your right. There is a parking fee of $10 for non-residents, which you will need to pay to access the park.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Fort Adams State Park via public transportation, you can take the RIPTA bus from Narragansett Beach. Catch the bus on Ocean Road, and board the Route 66 bus towards Newport. Stay on the bus for about 30 minutes until you reach Newport. Once in Newport, transfer to the Route 67 bus towards Fort Adams State Park. The Route 67 bus will take you directly to the park entrance. Be sure to check the RIPTA schedule for the most current times, and keep in mind that a single ride fare is $2.00.

  • Bicycle

    For those who enjoy biking, you can ride from Narragansett Beach to Fort Adams State Park. Start on Ocean Road, which is bike-friendly and offers scenic views. Head north until you reach Route 1, where you will need to navigate to Route 138. Once on Route 138, there is a designated bike lane that leads directly to Newport. After approximately 12 miles, you will reach Fort Adams Drive. Turn onto Fort Adams Drive, and the park entrance will be on your right. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow all traffic regulations.
