If you are starting from the Butare town center, begin your walk towards the southeast along Avenue de la Paix. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Avenue de l’Indépendance. Turn left onto Avenue de l’Indépendance and walk until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Avenue du 1er Novembre. Follow this avenue until you see the sign for the Karama Genocide Memorial on your right. The memorial is a short walk from the main road.
