From the center of Butare, start at the main market (Bishop's Market). Head south on Avenue de la Révolution towards the intersection with Avenue de l'Indépendance. Continue straight until you reach the roundabout. Take the first exit onto Avenue de l'Université. Walk straight for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the junction with the road leading to Ruhango. At this junction, ask locals for directions towards 'Kamegeri' or 'Ruhango'. Continue along the road, which is well-marked, for approximately 10 kilometers. You will pass by local shops and small villages along the way. The Rock of Kamegeri is located off the main road and is a notable landmark, so keep an eye out for signs or ask locals if needed.
