Getting there

Car

If you are driving, start from the center of Cyangugu. Head southwest on Avenue du Lac towards Avenue de la Republique. After about 1.5 km, turn right onto the V755 road. Continue straight for about 8 km, following the road signs towards Gishyita. The hiking area is located at V755+GF, Gishyita, which will be on your left side. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for rural roads as some sections may be unpaved.

Public Transportation

To reach Gishyita by public transport, head to the main bus station in Cyangugu. Look for a local bus or shared taxi heading towards Gishyita. The fare is typically around 500 RWF per person. The journey should take about 30-40 minutes. Ask the driver to drop you off at the closest point to V755+GF in Gishyita, as not all vehicles may go directly to the hiking area. From there, you may need to walk approximately 1 km to reach the hiking trail.

Walking

If you prefer to walk from the nearest drop-off point in Gishyita, after getting off the bus or taxi, head north on the V755 road. Follow the road for about 1 km, and you will see signs directing you to the Gishyita Hiking area. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes as the path may be uneven in some places.
