Getting There

Car

If you are driving from Kigali, take the RN1 road towards Nyundo. Continue on RN1 for approximately 120 km until you reach the town of Kayonza. From Kayonza, follow the signs to Akagera National Park. The entrance to the park is about 40 km from Kayonza. Once inside the park, follow the signs to Lake Rwanyakazinga. Wilderness Magashi Camp is located on the shores of the lake. Please note that you'll need to pay the park entrance fee, which is around $30 per person for foreign visitors.
Public Transportation

To reach Wilderness Magashi Camp by public transport, start by taking a bus from Kigali to Kayonza. The bus ride takes approximately 2-3 hours and costs around RWF 1,500 to RWF 3,000. From Kayonza, you will need to hire a private taxi to take you to the entrance of Akagera National Park, which is about 40 km away. Taxi fares can range from RWF 10,000 to RWF 15,000. Once at the park entrance, pay the entrance fee (approximately $30 per person for foreign visitors) and follow the signs to Lake Rwanyakazinga where the camp is located.
