From the main area of Gisenyi, head towards the Lake Kivu waterfront. You can find local boats (known as 'imihigo') near the beach. Approach the boatmen and ask them to take you to Gitesi, which is the area where Iliza Houseboat is located. Make sure to agree on the price beforehand. The boat ride will offer you scenic views of the lake and take approximately 20-30 minutes, depending on the water conditions.

If you prefer to walk, start from the center of Gisenyi and head towards the main road leading out of town. Follow the signs towards Gitesi. The walk will take about 1-1.5 hours. Keep an eye out for local landmarks, such as the Gisenyi Market, as a reference point. Once you reach Gitesi, look for signs or locals who can direct you towards Iliza Houseboat.
