Car

To reach Boating Pier by car from central Gitarama, head northeast on Avenue de la République towards Rue de l'Industrie. Continue straight for about 1.5 km until you reach the roundabout near the Gitarama Market. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto the RN1 road towards Ruhondo. Follow the RN1 for approximately 15 km. After passing through Ruhondo, look for signs pointing towards Lake Ruhondo. Turn right onto the road leading to the lake, and continue for about 2 km until you reach Boating Pier, located at GPS coordinates GP9Q+XH.

Public Transportation

For those using public transportation, start at the main bus station in Gitarama. Look for a bus labeled 'Ruhondo' or 'Lake Ruhondo' which will take you directly towards Ruhondo. The fare is typically around 500 RWF. The bus ride will take about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in Ruhondo, you can either walk towards the lake (approximately 20 minutes) or hire a moto-taxi for around 1000 RWF to take you directly to Boating Pier, which is about 2 km away.

Walking

If you prefer walking, you can start from central Gitarama and take a scenic route to Boating Pier. It's approximately 18 km and will take around 4-5 hours. Head northeast on Avenue de la République, then follow the RN1 road towards Ruhondo as described in the car guidance. Once you reach Ruhondo, follow signs to Lake Ruhondo and continue for about 2 km to reach the pier.
