If you are driving, start from the nearest town in Sine-Saloum Delta, such as Foundiougne. Head south on the N1 road towards the town of Toubacouta. Follow the signs towards the Saloum River. Once you reach Toubacouta, look for local signs indicating boat access to Shell Island (Deourum Bu Mag). It is recommended to park your car in a safe area and proceed with a pirogue (traditional wooden boat) which can be hired at the local dock. The boat ride to Shell Island takes approximately 30 minutes.

To reach Shell Island via public transport, take a shared taxi or 'sept-place' (a type of minibus) from Dakar or a nearby town like Kaolack to Toubacouta. Once you arrive in Toubacouta, you will need to hire a pirogue at the local dock to take you to Shell Island (Deourum Bu Mag). The pirogue ride costs around 5000-10000 CFA francs per person, depending on the group size and negotiation.

After reaching Toubacouta, whether by car or public transport, you must take a pirogue to Shell Island. The boatmen are usually available at the dock, and it's advisable to agree on the fare before boarding.
