Walking
From Orchard Road, head towards Somerset MRT Station. You can do this by walking along Orchard Road until you reach the entrance of the station, which is located on the corner of Orchard Road and Somerset Road. Once at Somerset MRT Station, take the North-South Line (Red Line) towards Marina South Pier. After 3 stops, get off at the Woodlands MRT Station. From Woodlands MRT Station, switch to the bus at the bus interchange and take Bus 170 or Bus 950 towards Larkin Terminal. After about 15 minutes, get off at the Istana Besar stop. You will see the entrance to Istana Besar Royal Abu Bakar just a short walk from the bus stop.

Start at Orchard Road and make your way to the nearest MRT station, which is Orchard MRT Station. Board the North-South Line heading towards Jurong East. After 4 stops, transfer at the Kranji MRT Station. From there, exit the station and take Bus 170 or Bus 950 from the nearby bus stop. After approximately 30 minutes of travel, disembark at the Istana Besar stop in Johor Bahru. The Istana Besar will be within walking distance from the stop.
