From Portorož, head to the nearest bus stop, which is located on Obala street near the Hotel Apollo. Take the bus towards Piran and get off at the Piran bus station. From there, transfer to a bus heading to Aquileia, which you can catch at the same bus station. The journey will take around 1 hour and 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Aquileia, walk straight to Piazza Capitolo, where the Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta is located. It’s a 10-minute walk from the bus stop.

If you are in the center of Portorož, you can take a scenic walk along the coast towards Piran, following the seaside promenade. Once in Piran, head to the bus station to catch the bus to Aquileia as described above. The walk to Piran will take about 30 minutes, and the bus journey will follow.

Rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Portorož. Cycle along the coast towards Piran, which is a 30-minute ride. Once in Piran, park your bicycle at the bus station and catch the bus to Aquileia as previously mentioned. This way, you can enjoy the views along the way.
