To reach Lake Cerknica from Škofja Loka, start at the Škofja Loka Bus Station located in the town center. You can catch a bus heading towards Cerknica. Make sure to check the bus schedule beforehand, as there may be limited services. The journey will take approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. Once you arrive at the Cerknica Bus Station, exit the bus and head towards the main road (Cesta 1. maja). Follow the signs towards Lake Cerknica, which is around a 30-minute walk from the bus station. You will walk along Cesta 1. maja and then take a left onto Lake Road (Jezerska cesta) until you reach the lake.

If you are already in the central area of Škofja Loka and prefer to walk, head towards the Škofja Loka Bus Station and take the bus to Cerknica, as walking to Lake Cerknica directly from Škofja Loka would be quite long (approximately 20 km). Upon arriving at the Cerknica Bus Station, follow Cesta 1. maja for about 1 kilometer, then take a left onto Jezrska cesta. Continue walking for about 2 kilometers until you reach Lake Cerknica. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as the path may be longer than expected.

For a more adventurous option, consider renting a bicycle in Škofja Loka. Start your ride at the town center and take the road towards the main highway leading to Cerknica. The total distance is about 20 kilometers, and the route will involve some uphill and downhill sections. Follow the bike path along the roads, and be cautious as you navigate through traffic. Upon reaching Cerknica, you can find signs directing you towards Lake Cerknica. The ride will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your cycling speed and fitness level.
