Getting There

Car

If you're traveling by car, start from the town of Bela-Bela (Warmbaths). Take the R101 road heading north towards Modimolle (Nylstroom). After about 30 km, merge onto the R33 towards Thabazimbi. Continue on the R33 for approximately 45 km until you reach the entrance of Marakele National Park. Once at the park entrance, follow the signs to Marataba Mountain Lodge, which is located within the park. Note that there is an entrance fee for the park, which is approximately R100 per person. The lodge is about a 30-minute drive from the park gate.
Public Transportation

For those using public transportation, take a bus from Pretoria to Bela-Bela (Warmbaths). Buses operate daily, and the journey takes about 2 hours. From Bela-Bela, you will need to hire a taxi or arrange for a shuttle service to Marataba Mountain Lodge. The distance from Bela-Bela to the lodge is approximately 50 km, and taxi fares can vary, typically around R600-R800. It's best to pre-book a taxi to ensure a smooth journey.
Private Transfer

Another convenient option is to book a private transfer. Many lodges and travel companies offer this service from major cities like Johannesburg or Pretoria directly to Marataba Mountain Lodge.
