Bicycle
If you're starting from downtown Beaufort, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local shops. Head east on Bay Street towards the Beaufort River. Continue on Bay Street, which will turn into Highway 21. Follow this road for about 12 miles, crossing the bridge over the Coosaw River. Once you reach the intersection with Fort Pulaski Road, turn left and follow the signs to Fort Pulaski National Monument.

Walking
If you prefer to walk, start at the Beaufort Waterfront Park. Head east on Bay Street towards the river. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Highway 21. From there, follow the pedestrian path along Highway 21 for about 12 miles. This is a long walk and will take several hours, so be prepared with water and snacks. Once you reach Fort Pulaski Road, turn left to get to the monument.
