From Kiawah Island, head northwest on Kiawah Island Parkway. Continue onto River Road and follow it until you reach the intersection with SC-700. Turn left onto SC-700 and continue for about 9 miles. Merge onto US-17 N toward Charleston. After approximately 15 miles, take the exit for Calhoun St. Continue on Calhoun St for a short distance, and you'll arrive at Historic Downtown Charleston.

To reach Historic Downtown Charleston from Kiawah Island using public transportation, first, take the CARTA Bus Route 30 from the nearest bus stop on Kiawah Island (check local bus schedules for the exact location). Ride the bus towards Charleston, which will take about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive at the bus terminal in downtown Charleston, it's a short walk to Calhoun St. Head north on Meeting St towards Calhoun St, then turn right onto Calhoun St. Continue walking until you reach Historic Downtown Charleston.
